-Break spelling list down. i.e. 2 new words perday + previous day's words. -Practice everyday. -Look for words that look familiar. -Use the LOOK-SAY-COVER-WRITE-CHECK method or Elkonin Box method.
LOOK-SAY-COVER-WRITE-CHECK
Step 1:Parent shows the word to the child and reads the word.
Step 2:Child studies the word (the shape; the length; the order of the letters and think of other similar words) and reads it. Step 3:Child covers the word and writes.
Step 4:Child uncovers word and checks. Step 5:If incorrect; child goes to Step 2 and repeat. If correct, child does Step 3 and Step 4 at least five times and if all correct, child goes on to the next word.
These Steps are effective and was proven by my daughter who did these steps to master her spelling. I hope it would also help your children in their spellings, especially those who are Primary School Students.
